Dental Symptoms: The Top Ten

Posted on 2/10/2014 by Alan Snodgrass
Dental Symptoms: The Top TenSometimes it's better not to score in the top ten and we hope that's the case here. Mouth Healthy, the American Dental Association's educational website, lists the top ten dental symptoms:

•  Toothache - pain in the mouth or jaw indicating a cavity, gum disease, abscess, or impacted tooth
•  Sensitive teeth - pain from hot or cold drinks may indicate decay, fracture, worn fillings or enamel, gum recession and more
•  Bleeding or sore gums - can be a sign of gingivitis or overly enthusiastic brushing or flossing
•  Mouth sores - can indicate disease, infection, fungus, or irritation
•  Bad breath - caused by diet, hygiene, smoking, medical conditions and more
•  Jaw pain, popping or clicking - a wide range of causes from sinus issues to injury to arthritis
•  Dry mouth - can be a symptom of a disorder or a side effect of medication
•  Oral piercing infection - the choice to pierce can lead to all sorts of health complications
•  Cracked or broken teeth - brittle or damaged teeth or grinding of the teeth can cause pain and complications
•  Stained or discolored teeth - lots of causes including lifestyle choices and genetics

Of our patients scoring in the top ten, some suffer from more than one of these conditions. Fortunately, we have lots of treatments and solutions. Some are very simple and affordable, with early intervention. If you find yourself among the top ten, give us a call and we'll help get you started on the road to recovery.
